Taylor sat on her bed, computer in her lap. A soft smile was played across her face as she thought of the past few years and how wonderful everything had been. "When are you coming home?" She typed the IM, fingers flying across the keyboard; she used the computer much too often. "I'll be back in a week. You'll be fine." The smile widened as she imagined the sweet voice, and Taylor shut the laptop, turning on the TV to just relax. She lived in the same exact appartment as she had for the last 6 years, having moved out of her parents house in her junior year, and she loved it. -x- "Freedom" Matt sighed, inhaling deeply. "Finally, after 5, long years." Yes, five years ago he was convicted of assult. Wether he had done it or not was a mystery. Only Matt really knew the truth, although the jury certainly had thought he was guilty. Well, he was. But that asshole had pushed him to it, set him too far over the edge. Whatever, that was so long ago. The only thing now was to think of the furture, of her. The single most important person in his life. The one he had missed the most. ooc// I'm ganna wait to add more to Matt's until I know where your charrie is.

He watched strangers pasting by him, clueless of his identity. If they knew this was his first day back into society they probably would have stayed far away. The past five years were a blur. Sure he remembered them, they the memories were not good ones, she Ben blocked them out. His blue eyes blinked. He had almost forgotten the busyness of the New York streets. All the life that flowed through them.
Running a hand through his dirty blonde hair Ben walked. He was still getting reacquainted with the effect that he was on his own again, no one was telling him what to do every second and he could do what he pleased. One of the things he wished to do for so long was to see his first and only love. God, he hoped she still lived in the same place as she did since junior year. Back then things were so much easier. Looking at the street sign Ben recognized it. He was close; he had walked here countless times.
He wore blue jeans and a red tee. He’s looks hadn’t changed much, but his mind had grown, especially for his love, Taylor.
------
Charlie sighed rubbing her eyes, starring at all her papers and clothing designs. Her brain was fried….things were extremely stressful. Anything else and she might overload. Hopefully it would all end tomorrow when she presented her line and it was accepted. Charlottes dream was fashion design. New York was one of the best places for it. Charlie already had a good start, interning and taking school to become a designer. But Charlie wasn’t always this determined. It started about four and a half years ago….
A major event happened in her life and it took a few months to cope, after that Charlie decided to make some major changes in her life, she wasn’t going to wait around forever. Back then Charlie was young and irresponsible. She liked the nightlife and spending money like it grew on trees. Now she balanced that with a more adult personality. She had to or else she would go back to what she was, a sad girl whose boyfriend ended up in prison. She tried to not think about him anymore, it still hurt though, knowing that he was taken away from her. He wasn’t a bad guy, he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time… or so she heard. However things were looking up. Her once naturally blonde hair was now dyed a dark chocolate brown, her style, more tasteful and laid back. Her life was going on the right track.
During the past few years Charlie hadn’t grown in height or fluctuated in weight, she was still average height with a lean figure. Even though she was in her early twenties, Charlie looked young. She had always looked young for her age.
Her hair was currently in loose waves. Her face had shown minimal makeup. She wore a green top that went past her hips and straight leg jeans. On her feet were a pair of grey boots, she wore them all the time, and they were her favourite. Her apartment was cramped and boring. But it was all she could afford. She planned to move out when she had enough money.

Of course, there was nothing on TV for Taylor's liking. She sighed and stood, going to the bathroom to straighten up. After running a brush through her curly blond hair, she flattened her rinkled black t-shirt and went back to her room. A beautiful wooden guitar was mounted on the far wall. She took it down, and slipped it into it's case. Her entire life, Taylor had played the guitar. And now, she was hoping to become a fmamous singer. It had always been her dream, and finally, finally it was within her grasp. Grabbing her jacket, the guitar over her shoulder, and left her apartment. The hallway was cream colored and boring, the elavator played annoying elevator music, but once outside, Taylor felt at home.
-x-
Now that he was a free man, Matt could do as he wished. But all he really wanted was to find Charlie. That was where the problem was. He wasn't sure where she lived now, or if she had the same phone number. She had been on his mind the entire five years, the only thing keeping him sane in that hell hole. Maybe he could find her in the phonebook... what else could he try? So he found one of the many pay phones along the streets of New York, hope flaring in his heart.

Nearby the apartment building Ben felt uneasy. Though nervous he was also extremely excited to see her. He walked a few more steps, noticing someone familiar. They had a guitar on their back at first he was weary. That was definitely her. Slowly he walked behind the girl and after a moment he got the courage to step closer and tap the girl on the back.
-------
Charlie stepped away from her papers and designs. She needed some Starbucks. A grade strawberries and crème frappuccino to be exact. She pulled a light grey jacket on and grabbed her purse. Heading out the door she locked it and continued down the stairs to the main level. Then she walked out the door and raced through all the people to the Starbucks two streets away.
OOC|| Okay, I thought this would make it easier.

Taylor jumped, startled by the feeling of someone tapping her back. "Wha-" As she turned, her eyes fell apon someone she hadn't seen for 5 years, and she froze. Ben. He must have gotten out of prison, but why come looking for her? It was a few seconds before she could speak, and even then her voice was shaky. "Ben?"
-x-
He couldn't find anything, although he wasn't really sure what to look for in the phone book. Their were so many people with her name... There was a Starbucks near by. It seemed like a good place to just sit and figure out what to do. Once inside, he looked around, although not really seeing anything. But suddenly he caught a glimpse of a young woman. Hadn't she been blond the last time he had seen her? Was it really, truly her? "Charlie?"

Ben lit up. "Yes, it's me Taylor," he smiled real big. "I got out...." his voice trailed off. "I was looking for you." Ben began walked beside her. "Oh God, it's been a horrible five years. I have missed you so much."
------
Charlie waited at the counter for her drink to be made. Hearing her name being called she turned to see who it was. Matt. It wasn't true, he was still in jail, for another few years at least. This must have just been some weirdo. She turned her back to him, "I don't know you." she said. Then again his voice did sound too farmiliar.

Taylor stared at Ben. She had missed him too, for the first couple of years. But she hadn't really thought of him sense, andher life was so much different. So she still wanted to be a singer, and she hadn't much changed her look, but things, the curcumstances, they were different. "Ben... wow, this is a big surprise." More like huge surprise.
-x-
,Matt frowned. "Charlie, it's me. Matt." How could she not remember him? He woudl never forget her face, her beautiful eyes, her blo- "You changed your hair." The words came out in a whisper. "I liked it blond, but the brown looks nice too."

"Yeah I know. I just wanted to see your face." he began. "And I wanted to talk. Are you busy right now?" Ben starred into her eyes. He thought back to all the times when he thought about those eyes in jail.
------
Charlie turned around, it was definitely him, though Charlie wasn't very pleased to see him. Maybe under different circumstances, but now was just not a good time. "Yeah Matt." she looked at his face, it was just like she remembered. "I needed change." she said trying not to sound to harsh, though he somewhat deserved it.... leaving her because of his stupid actions. Right now she didn't know how to feel.

Taylor was caught in his gaze, unable to look awayfor a few seconds. As soon as she could, she looked down, staring intenly at the hard ground. "Umm," Really, now was a good time. All she was doing was going out to practice her songs... but she didn't feel comfortable talking to Ben. However, she was not a liar. "No, I'm free. Come up to my apartment." Sighing, she turned back toward the building.
-x-
"It looks nice." He repeated, although he did prefer the blond. Now what did he say? A flaw in the plan to find her: What now? "So, I'm out..." 'Obviously' he aded to himself, wishing the words had not escaped his mouth. "How have you been?" What he really wanted to sya was 'I missed you alot, and I'm really sorry about what happened' But that really didn't seem appropriate.

Ben smiled. "Okay great." he said. It was undoubtedly awkward, but it amazing at the same time. He waited for her to start off towards her apartment.
------
"Yeah...." Charlie blinked at him.... he had already said that. "So what, did they find out you were innocent or something?" she said turning to get her beverage and smiled at the person who had given it to her.
"I have been great actually. I've decided to make something out of my life." Charlie said sipping her drink. It was so hard to not just give him a hug and a kiss and say everything was fine but she couldn't forget all pain he had put her through.

Once inside, there was that same boring elevator music and creme colored walls. Of course it was the same, but it just got old day after day. Then there was her apartment. The walls were a bright blue and covered with pictures of famous country singers. "Alright, here we are." It felt odd, letting Ben in her partment after all those years. It was the same apartment they had spent many nights in, but this was different. Taylor sat on the couch, waiting.
-x-
The big question. She could never know he was really guilty, she would never forgive him. "No... I'm out on parole. Good behavior." It was difficult to get all the words out, to try and sound sure. It was the truth, but he was not innocent, and that hurt him because he knew it wiuld hurt Charlie. "That's good. You turned your life around? What are you doing now?"

Ben sat down on a chair and looked around. "This place hasn't changed much." he noted and turned his attention to her. "So, how has life been treating you?" he asked, not really sure how to start the conversation.
-----
"Oh. I see." Charlie sipped her drink again and began to walk toward the door, expecting him to folllow. "I'm interning at Teen Vogue right now, tomorrow I propose my new clothing line. I've been working on it for months." she said and looked back at him, "Are you coming?" Of course she wasn't going to just let him go, they had been together for so long, still she had to show no sign of attachment... not just yet. He needed to now that she wasn't just going to fall back into his arms.
